Tell us a bit more about your home project and your style.
I bought my first home in June 2019 on my own – something I’d been dreaming of for a long time. It needed so much work doing to it including new windows, new kitchen & bathroom and lots of love! I would say my style is a mixture of old and new, homely but a sleek boutique hotel kind of vibe. I have so many ideas and appreciate so many different styles that I would probably need 10 houses!
What fire have you had installed?
Gazco eReflex Inset electric fire 85R and I absolutely love it. I love a real fire but for me, this was perfect – so easy to clean and such a fab space saver.
Where did you get the fire installed in your home, and why that location?
I got the fire installed in my living room which is ultimately the centre of my home. I have an open plan living space downstairs and the fire with my gold mirror and Hague Blue wall is probably the biggest feature.
Which retailer did you go to for your fire?
Eastburn Fireplaces – very local to me and was recommended.
What drew you to a Gazco product?
My house is small and compact so I loved the idea of having a flushed fireplace. The Gazco electric fire is super sleek – I originally wanted gas because of the flame.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing your renovation?
Budgeting – I never realised how much things cost such as plastering, electrics and flooring! I had a lot of help with labour but definitely needed to be stricter on my little excel budget spreadsheet!
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
I think it’s the focal point of a room and instantly makes a room feel more welcoming. I always just have the flame lights on my fire without the heat and it looks so cosy and inviting.
Any tips for other people renovating?
Mood boards, room by room budgeting including first and second fixes, don’t worry too much when things don’t quite go to plan and enjoy it. Think of the end result – it’s so worth it and you’ll feel so proud once you’ve completed.
