The brand new series of George Clarke’s Old House, New Home is back on Thursday nights at 8pm on Channel 4. In this homes and interiors programme, George Clarke and leading architects transform some of Britain’s most unloved homes – starting with a home in Streatham in episode one.

Before the transformation, the Willatts’ home featured a bizarre space that saw an extension tacked onto the back of the house, complete with external doors and brickwork that featured in the house’s interior.

A tricky space, the couple had a long list of requirements that George needed to combat. The plans for the living area were that it needed to provide space for entertaining, whilst doubling up as a photographic studio and music room. It needed to be both a cosy space where the couple could relax in front of a log burner, whilst also serving practically for a pop-up photo studio.

With some imagination and through the use of retro styling, the open plan space was transformed, updating their old fireplace with a new Ecodesign Vogue Small from Stovax sitting at the heart of the room.

The Vogue Small‘s design works in all kinds of spaces, whether a home has a more contemporary steer, or even if traditional. This home straddled the lines between the two styles, offering a contemporary take on retro styling.
