Doing our bit for the environment

At Stovax & Gazco we’re passionate about the environment and doing our bit to secure a bright future for the next generation. Read on for a rundown of things we’re doing to protect our planet.

#GreenBritain

#GreenBritain is our own initiative in partnership with Certainly Wood where together we are funding the planting of trees. Our goal is to plant 10,000 new trees a year here in Britain, and all you have to do to help us reach this milestone is to register your newly purchased Stovax wood burning stove or fire.

If that’s not enough, registering your product also activates our 5 Year Extended Warranty*. In addition, you’ll also receive a free fire starter kit from Certainly Wood, containing everything you need to get your wood burning stove or fire going, including a £20 discount voucher off of your first Certainly Wood order.

Ecodesign Ready Stoves and Fires

The Ecodesign Ready scheme is a government backed initiative that sets stringent emissions limits for solid fuel stoves and fires here in the UK. The goal of this scheme is to improve air quality and efficiency through increased fuel standards and sustainability.

We offer the UK’s largest range of Ecodesign stoves and fires. These products provide rolling flames and comforting warmth, whilst lowering emissions to an absolute minimum. These appliances burn much cleaner than old stoves, using 20% less logs than a standard stove to heat your home, and a whopping 70% less than an open fire. The Stovax Heating Group are proud to be part of the ongoing story to support the Government’s Clean Air Strategy, representing the future of wood burning. Our goal is to continue to design stoves and fires with the environment in mind, providing you with heat for your homes for years to come.

Smoke Control Area Exempt Stoves and Fires

Vogue 700 Inset woodburner

If you live in a smoke control area, it means you can only burn authorised fuels unless your stove or fire is exempt. There are certain rules and criteria that these stoves or fires must meet in order to be deemed as exempt by DEFRA. Generally, these appliances burn more efficiently as they use less fuel, as well as reduce harmful emissions, so they play a key role in the UK Governments Clean Air Strategy.

We’re proud to offer the largest range of DEFRA-exempt stoves and fires in the UK. Click here to read our post on understanding Smoke Control Areas.

Already own a wood burning stove or fire?

If you already own an Ecodesign Ready wood burning stove or fire, it doesn’t stop there. By making sure you’re burning the right fuel on your new stove or fire, you can help do your bit to help the environment too.

If you have any further questions about stoves or fires that are Ecodesign Ready stoves or Smoke Control Area exempt, speak to your local retailer for more information and advice.

* The Stovax 2 year warranty can be further extended to a total warranty period of 5 years by registering your appliance within one month of the later of the purchase date or installation date. Any product purchased outside of our Expert Retailer Network will carry a standard 12 month, non-extendable warranty
