Why the Stovax Riva2 wood burning fire range is the Best Stove of 2022

The Stovax Riva2 is an Ecodesign wood burning fire range with Dualflow Airwash and a Ri-Ignite boost mode. This range delivers high efficiency heat, superior flame visuals, and a sleek centrepiece that will bring years of warmth and fireside ambience. Here’s a little more about why this alluring product was chosen as winner of the Best Stove category.

High-performance Ecodesign fires

Riva2 wood burning fires burn well below Ecodesign’s particulate matter and Nitrogen Oxide emissions limits, demonstrating their extraordinary performance. The Ecodesign requirement for total efficiency stands at 72.3% – this range exceeds this target drastically, at 80.5%, or 82.6% when burning smokeless mineral fuel on the Riva2 40 model.

An A+ and A-rated fire range, the Riva2 is available in four sizes, and all Riva2 inset fires can be selected with a Profil XS or the slightly wider Profil frame for a contemporary finish. Both frames are available in three-sided or four-sided versions, allowing you to achieve a hearth-mounted look if desired, or elevate the fire’s position for a ‘hole-in-the-wall’ look.

All fires are DEFRA-exempt as standard – meaning they comply to the Clean Air Act requirements for use in urban areas where a smoke control zone is in place.

Rapid Ri-Ignite Boost Mode

The Riva2 range expertly blends our inherent need for natural fire with the very latest heating technology. These fires are built to last and easy to operate, delivering both sophisticated design and performance in equal measure. All fires feature a rapid Ri-Ignite Boost Mode to make it effortless to ignite logs, even from a small ember. Whether you want a lazy flame or a vivid roar, this feature gives you easy control over your fire.

Crystal-clear view with Advanced DualFlow Airwash

Riva2 log burners also feature Advanced DualFlow Airwash for ultra-clean glass. With this innovative feature, convergent air flow is introduced from the top and bottom of the firebox, ensuring a crystal clear view of the flames. Most models in the range also allow you to heat up to two other living spaces from one fire using an optional ducting system. Two sliding controls make operation of the primary air and DualFlow Airwash smooth and straightforward.

Convected and radiant heat

Riva2 wood burners are what we consider convector fires – also known as convector stoves when it comes to freestanding models. As well as radiant heat that emanates from the glass and body, cool air is drawn into the convection chamber between the inner and outer skin of the fire, heating as it rises before flowing out of the stove into the room. The range also features an airtight door, and an ergonomically designed handle that can be removed from the fire so that it remains cool to touch.

External Integrated Air Connection

Thanks to their built-in air connection from the rear or base, Riva2 wood burning fires come ready to be installed with an external air supply without needing an additional bespoke external air kit. All that is needed for these fires to take combustion air from the outside of the property is to be connected to an external air tube.

Comfortable fit for British homes

Each model has been designed with the British home in mind. The smallest in the range, the Riva2 40, is designed to fit into a standard 22” high x 16” wide fireplace opening with the chairbrick removed. This allows you to install the fire with less building work, and in some cases without removing a hearth and mantel already in place – ideal for those where there are limitations in budget and involvement in the level of work. The 50 and 66 are both designed to fit a 22” high fireplace with the chairbrick removed, requiring the opening to simply be widened, and the 55 can be installed into a 36” H x 36” W x 16” D opening.
