How to get the Scandi look in your home

How to get the Scandi look in your home

It’s a new year and a fresh start, and for those of us who are obsessed with homes and interiors, this means a new look to our living space. Here, we uncover the key to creating a Scandi vibe in your living room.

It’s no secret that the Scandinavian look is popular. We love its simplistic, sleek style that still feels cosy and inviting.

Earthy tones

Scandi style relies on earthy tones to create its soft look. Having a wood burner at the heart of your living space helps to create this, especially when it comes to storing your logs. Having firewood on show, like the example shown with our room featuring a Stovax Studio 2 wood burner, complements a natural colour palette, working particularly well with greys, greens, browns and whites.

Layered textures

You may have realised that there is a theme of ‘natural’ that comes with a Scandi room. This can be echoed through soft furnishings and accessories. It is rare to find a Scandi room that doesn’t play around with texture – you can introduce this by including layered throws and cushions, such as faux fur and thick knits. Our Gazco Loft gas log burner is inspired by Nordic design, and also showcases a mixture of textures with its two-tone finish of matt steel and reflective black glass. This gas stove range also offers a log store base option, which allows you to bring in more texture by filling it with real logs to complement the overall look.

Abstract prints

Swap out fussy designs for abstract prints when it comes to your wall art. Scandi style embraces minimalism and neutral colours, so keeping your prints simple is the best way to bring character to your walls. Another idea is to make your fireplace a Scandi focal point. This tall cylindrical Prestige wood burning stove from Lotus is distinctly Scandinavian in its look, and the feature tiles make a statement in design whilst sticking to a simple colour palette. The result is a statement fireplace that is still in keeping with a Scandi vibe. This stove also comes in two further beautiful stone finishes, including the sandstone Wenge and dark soapstone Indian Night.
