George Clarke’s Old House, New Home has returned to our television screens with Series 7. In episode two, George helps inspire a young couple renovating their 17th century Grade II listed cottage in Worcestershire.
Before the transformation, Ben and Rosie’s 300 year old home featured period ceiling timbers hidden behind layers of paint and plaster, as well as a small dark and dated kitchen.
Having moved into the cottage after outgrowing their London flat, they wanted to maximise the use of the space they had as well as regain a warm and cosy heart to their home. It also needed a bigger kitchen with room for a dining table, a new home office and study space, and to restore the original period features back to their former glory.
With George’s help, they were able to transform their home, even opening an old wall at the centre to reveal an old chimney breast complete with inglenook fireplace and original stone features. To bring the fireplace back into service and provide heat and ambience to their new home office space, they fitted the fireplace with a new Ecodesign Stovax Chesterfield 5 wood burning stove.
The Chesterfield 5 with its traditional and elegant styling is a great centrepiece whether within a traditional or contemporary setting. With the new white palette, refreshed wooden beams and flagstone floor, their property offers a fresh take on the traditional. Delivering up to 5kW of heat output, the Chesterfield 5 will provide ample warmth to their new study space.
