We speak to Tracey Hinton, the latest winner of our “Win the cost of your product back” prize draw about why she chose a Gazco eReflex 195R electric fire for her home.

Tell us a bit more about your home project and your style.
My husband is a builder and when he sees products that he likes, he gets inspired to design around them. He chooses items such as the fire and the television and I decide on colours and soft furnishings. When we installed the Gazco fire, we couldn’t get the decorator around quick enough to fit in with our timescale and as my husband Steve doesn’t like painting, we had to work together on the decorating which is always ‘amusing’! Steve wanted to build a new feature wall to house the fire and the television, and we re-sited the speakers for the sound system at the same time. We have used ‘false walls’ to effect on several occasions as I have an aversion to seeing any wires!
What stove/fire have you had installed?
We had the biggest one we could find and then had to find a television that was as big as the fire! We have the Gazco eReflex 195R Inset Electric Fire.
Where did you get the stove/fire installed in your home, and why that location?
It’s in our lounge as that is both large enough to house such large items but also where we spend most of our time in the evenings and our entertaining room. I don’t think we’ve had a single visitor that hasn’t complimented the fire and TV ‘combo’.
What drew you to a Stovax or Gazco product?
I’ll have to ask my husband that one as he saw it first! So, Steve says he was looking for a big fire to go with a big television! He was actually chuffed to bits when a few days after installation, he saw a famous footballer with almost an identical installation. It could have been our wall we were looking at! That seemed to reaffirm to him we had good taste, even if we don’t have a footballer’s wallet!
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing your renovation?
Staying married! No seriously, I think that the greatest challenge was probably hanging the television. My husband was naturally very keen to locate the batons he had constructed to hang the television on. It took three of us to lift and guide it and much ‘fun’ was had in the making!
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
We’d had a gas one previously and it had always made a lovely focal point for the room. I don’t think you can beat a fire that has the appeal of the flames on a cold, winter’s evening. It makes me feel all safe and cosy and I’m at peace with the world! Who can resist a roaring fire, a good film and a lovely hot drink or glass of wine in front of such a beautiful fire?
Any tips for other people renovating?
Stay calm and don’t ‘knee jerk’ ideas. Sometimes, the first idea you have is not the best, so take your time and plan things methodically. A well-executed plan may take longer to implement but the end result will have more longevity!
