Tell us a bit more about your home project.
We redeveloped our 1960’s home into two New-England-style clapboard homes after demolishing half of our existing home. It was a major project lasting 3 years. It all started after we decided we wanted to downsize, but did not want to leave our seaside location, and we are so glad we did it!

Stovax Studio 500, freestanding

Where did you get the fire installed in your home, and why that location?
We have an open plan kitchen, living and dining area. The fireplace sits between the kitchen and snug area. We have wanted to have a wood burner in our kitchen for many years, as most of our time is spent there as a family, and it creates a fabulous cosy feel in the winter.
What drew you to a Stovax product?
This wood burning stove suited the style of our home perfectly. The heat it produces is fantastic.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing this renovation?
Living in the house throughout the whole project, including taking the roof off, and little glass at the windows throughout the ‘Beast from the East’ winter!
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
Having a fireplace just makes a house a home. It feels so cosy and welcoming, especially on those dark winter evenings.
Any tips for other people renovating?
Don’t compromise. If you know what you want your home to look like, don’t be afraid to correct things straight away if you don’t like how it’s looking. It will all be so worth it in the end!
