Tell us a bit more about your project.
Our project was a super cool modern single storey home in the heart of Broadstairs. The property has a large living day area combining kitchen, dining and living spaces. The living area needed a focal point, and the Stovax Studio 2 8kW wood burner was perfect.
What fire have you had installed?
We had a Stovax Studio 2 8kW wood burning fire installed with a heat shield and a chimney flue too.
Where did you get the fire installed in your home, and why that location?
We had the fire installed on the outside wall of the living area, in order to give it a focal point, and create a cosy feel to the large high-ceilinged space.
What drew you to a Stovax & Gazco product?
We were drawn to the contemporary design of the Stovax Studio 2. It fits well with our property, which is very modern and features contemporary furniture and styling. There are not many suppliers of contemporary wood burners who are offering products that are as available and affordable as this one.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing this build?
The biggest challenge we faced was the planning stage, and then the use of materials – the Spanish glazed bricks were hard to get a continuous supply, and then it was getting the correct mortar mix and then cleaning them afterwards! They now look absolutely fabulous!
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
It’s important for us to have a fireplace as it creates warmth of feeling (even when not lit). They are a focal point and hub of a living space.
Any tips for other people undertaking a fireplace renovation?
We’d recommend you shop around, and make sure you choose a fireplace that fits with your overall desired ambience and design brief. Make sure you understand the full costs involved as it’s not just the fireplace that you are paying for – you’ll need to pay for heat shields and flues if required, as well as fitting too! However it’s always worth the effort for the end result and enjoyment. The Stovax Studio 2 wood burning fires give off a beautiful heat and are mesmerising to watch too.
Please note, we recommend the use of decorative/constructional hearths. Find out more about when a hearth is needed. We also advise that there is the required distance between your stove and any combustibles. It’s important to refer to your instruction manual for the minimum clearance distances for your own model of stove.
