Tell us about your home, your inspiration…
Our home is a 3 bed 1950s end of terrace house in South London. It isn’t a classic ‘old’ house and it also isn’t a modern new build so it’s a fine balance of ensuring our style fits with the house! Pinterest has been our best friend since planning to move – we wanted a common thread, so a modern, industrial feel runs throughout with each room varying in colour scheme to fit that style…however it’s been hard to stay away from our favourite colour combination blue and grey!
What do you love most about your home? What is your favourite feature?
We only moved in 3 months ago so there is still A LOT to do as we’re undergoing a total refurb but at the moment our favourite feature is the original parquet floor that fills the downstairs. The previous owner had covered with carpet so it was in very good condition, all it needed was a light sand and varnish. And of course, our double-sided log burner which is the main feature in both living room and kitchen.
What drew you to our Stockton 8 Double Sided Burner?
We had looked everywhere for a good value double sided burner that wasn’t too traditional looking and fitted with our modern, industrial vibe – it was almost impossible under Angus at Firefly London found this one! It’s the perfect style, size and great quality.
What is your advise to anyone looking to renovate their own home?
Our advice is plan, plan, plan, budget with a buffer and never take the first price. We had researched almost every detail we wanted in every room and put it all into a budget tracker, so we can see where and how we were over or under spending, the budget would have run away with us otherwise but we knew exactly where we had to make savings either on building, materials or interior.
If you knew your retailer, can you tell us why you chose them?
Taking on a renovation project is both a challenging and rewarding experience.
Our retailer was Firefly London. They were great, they knew exactly what we wanted from the get go. They even managed to install it whilst I was on holiday for a surprise birthday present for when I got back!
