Tell us a bit more about your home project and your style.
We bought our 1st property in 2020, which was a 3 bedroom semi-detached house. This was to get us onto the property ladder. When the value of house prices started to increase recently, we had ours valued and quickly put it up for sale. It sold for a decent profit, so we were able to use that money towards our new house where we currently reside. This is much closer to our dream home, as it is a 4 bedroom detached house. This project was a new turnkey development. The house is a modern build with an individual rustic design. The interior of the house has a modern and earthy style. The decor and furnishings have been matched accordingly.
What fire have you had installed?
We have had a Gazco Sheraton 5 Gas Stove installed. We wanted something that would be modern, clean and tidy. However, it was also important that our Stove was functional to provide essential heat when required. We never liked older coal or wood burning fires due the amount of effort needed to maintain cleanliness etc.
Where did you get the fire installed in your home, and why that location?
We had the fire installed in our living room because this is the main focal point for our family. Our house does have central gas heating but this fire will be the main element to provide the additional warmth and cosiness that we require. This is an upgrade to our previous property’s fire, which was a wood burning stove that we never used and just decorated with wooden logs. We now have a fire that suits our needs and house style.
Which retailer did you go to for your fire?
We used Ards Fireplaces. This was the contracted supplier who our developer was using.
What drew you to a Gazco product?
As part of our turnkey package, we were offered a rather basic wood burning stove. However, upon entrance into the Ards Fireplaces store we kept getting drawn to the amount of heat and light that the Gazco gas stoves were producing. We could not believe how similar it was to a real fire with none of the drawbacks. We decided that this upgrade cost to our turnkey package was worth it for such an important part of our house.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing your renovation?
The greatest challenge was getting the entire fireplace, including stove, to come together in the way we desired. We opted for a granite harth, floating wooden mantel piece and stone style chamber tiling. We wanted chamber lighting too, so the Stove would be illuminated especially when not in use. This was tough, as the electrician and builders had to complete a workaround to have mains powered electric lighting installed. However, their solution proved surprisingly pleasing.
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
A fireplace is a focal point in a living room. We can have our furniture laid out around both it and the television. It provides warmth and creates a homely feel.
Any tips for other people renovating?
If you have an idea about how you want your fireplace to look, then stop at nothing until you achieve it. Work with your developer/builder/contractor to find something that suits your needs. You should also get a Gazco Gas Stove because they are unreal!
