Tell us about your home, your inspiration…
My interior style is a mix of comfort with a touch of luxury. I love farmhouse style with contemporary styling mixing traditional and modern elements. I absolutely love New England Hamptons coastal house style too so this does influence my interior decisions.
I don’t really like to stick to one particular style and prefer filling our home with things we love that make it our happy place.
Most of my home inspiration comes from Pinterest. It’s such an amazing tool to gain creative ideas and solutions. I love up cycling and saving money where I can too, so Pinterest also helps me to achieve what I want in a realistic and affordable way by thinking outside the box. I’m always bidding on something on eBay after sitting on Pinterest. My daughters playhouse is a prime example of that.
I also love YouTube as I attempt most of the renovations myself on a small budget.
Brands I love are American stores such as Restoration hardware and pottery barn so I use their websites as huge inspiration too.
I love to document my DIY projects and our home renovation journey on Instagram too, please follow me on @mamma_mia_home.
What do you love most about your home?
The thing I love most about our home is how it makes me feel when I’m in it! It’s my safe haven filled with everything I love. I also love that there is a place for everything, well, in the rooms we have completed anyway. I think that practicality especially with young children is key to making your home flow peacefully and still feeling like a cosy place you can relax in! For me it’s about how I feel when I’m home.
What is your favourite feature?
My favourite feature in our home is how we made our lounge smaller to create a playroom for our daughter and a space me and my husband can relax and enjoy our feature fire wall without staring at toys. It separates the tv lounge from playing and learning and a space my daughter gets to be creative in. I love the idea of open plan living but for my family it just wouldn’t have worked in this house.
What drew you to our Gazco Radiance 135R electric fire?
I was originally drawn to the Gazco Radiance 135R electric fire after coming across it on Pinterest! I loved the white pebbles as it gave me a minimalist practical looking fire with a touch of costal beach.
What is your advise to anyone looking to renovate their own home?
I would say the best advice for anyone looking to renovate their own home would be to plan, plan and then plan again.
We decided to live in our home for about a year before we did anything to get a feel for what would work! It’s a cosy 90s build 4 bed detached which was originally built in the garden of a neighbouring property. It didn’t have much storage and the rooms are all quite long and narrow so living in it helped me to think of ways to use the space more efficiently to suit our families needs.
If you knew your retailer, can you tell us why you chose them?
The retailer we used was https://abell.co.uk who had the most competitive pricing online.
Anything else you would like to add….
Our home is definitely a work in progress but were so pleased with the progress we have achieved so far.
