Q. Please briefly describe your renovation project including the style and age of your property.
A. We moved to Essex to be closer to family in London. We wanted to live near the coast and found this 1950’s bungalow. It needed some renovation and the lounge was the last project. We gutted the room – removed an old brick fireplace, dado rail and awful artexed ceiling. We weren’t sure what kind of fire to have, but when we saw this Gazco Riva2 530 Designio2 Steel gas fire in a local showroom we knew it was what we wanted. It’s got a remote control to switch the fire on/off. The logs are so realistic when the fire is lit and the fire is very efficient. We love it!
Q. How long did the project take?
A. It took about 4 weeks as we had the room re-plastered and had to wait for that to dry, and the fire took about 3 weeks after ordering before it was ready to be installed.
Q. Please give the make, model and size of your fire or stove – also is it wood burning only or multi-fuel?
A. It’s a Gazco Riva2 530 log effect gas fire.
Q. How long have you wanted a fire/stove?
A. Since we moved into the property 12 months ago.
Q. What were the key reasons for installing a fire/stove? For example were you motivated by ambience, environmental, cost, style and/or warmth?
A. We wanted a nice looking and efficient gas fire.
Q. What drew you to your particular model?
A. The very lovely effect it gives when alight.
Q. What type of installation do you have (including the flue)?
A. Gas
Q. Describe the journey to owning your own stove. Was it enjoyable, straight forward, more reasonable/expensive than you thought, did you find a retailer and an installer easily and locally? Did you have to wait long for the fire/stove and the installation?
A. We obtained quotes from local companies, but found our installer online. He proved to be very efficient, quick and competitively priced.
Q. Why did you install it into your living room?
A. We needed a new fire in the lounge – one that was quick and easy to use to heat up the room when the central heating wasn’t on.
Q. Has the fire/stove changed your lifestyle in any way?
A. This gas fire is very easy to turn on/off, which is something to bear in mind as you get older. It’s also made our lounge a nice room to be in, one that we are happy to have family and friends round.
