Lucinda, gas fire, NYC style home
After meeting in Ibiza, Lucinda and her husband travelled all over the world but New York City remains their favourite escapade. Their elegant and chic home is largely influenced by their favourite city.

Tell us your home style?
Our style is driven from the inspiration we get when we travel. My husband and I met in Ibiza in 2009 and both have a passion for travel and have been all over the world together. I wouldn’t say we have a set particular style as such, but we get ideas from places we have been. From all of the places we have been, NYC remains our combined favourite place so I would say that city has a lot to answer for! I love the idea that our home makes everyone feel welcome but with a cool edge and I am a big fan of wall art!
What do you love most about your home? What is your favourite feature?
The downstairs of our home is very much open plan, and as we have young children this is perfect for us and we love it. We spend most of our time on our kitchen (carpets and kids don’t mix) but then once the kids are in bed Andy and I head for our lounge- it’s super cosy, dark and chilled and our fire is by far our favourite feature. (Andy is a gas engineer so we chose our home based on the fact we could fit a big fire in the lounge !!)
What drew you to our Vision Large gas stove?
Andy’s knowledge of fires is another level – our house overlooks the river Tyne a few miles out of Newcastle and across the river is Lemington old glassworks – a grade 2 listed building which is the home of Stanegate stoves where we purchased our fire – the size was the first point – we wanted something big so as to have it as a key feature in our lounge. Making a statement is key for us, I don’t like to do things by half’s!
What is your advice to anyone looking to renovate and choosing a fire?
I think to have a clear plan and goal is important and to get that I think a lot of research and inspiration is needed. I am a big fan of online research and think apps such as Instagram and Pinterest are great sources to use when wanting to get some ideas. That being said I do think it is important to be original and roll with what you love. Varied styles rather than a show home matching approach is way cooler in my opinion so just be yourself and chose what suits you !
Why did you choose your retailer?
I love architecture so the fact they are housed in a grade 2 listed building drew me in ! Once I was there their knowledge and service was second to none and they could answer all of our questions. I also liked the fact they were super close so should we have faved any issues we could get back to the easily !
Anything else you would like to add….
Our Gazco fire has genuinely been the best purchase we have made in our house. It is definitely a talking point when ever anyone sees it for the first time too !
