Lizzie & Pete, Studio 1, Eastleigh, Hampshire
Built and owned by only one couple previously, Lizzie and Pete had a blank canvas to work with when they moved into their first home. A project house, the 40-year-old property has allowed the couple to put their own stamp on each room, including their living room which now features a Stovax Studio 1.

Tell us a bit about how your home project started.
We loved the house when we viewed it three years ago as it had a warm, homely feel. The previous owners had not only built the house some 40 years ago but had lived in it ever since. The house reflected their taste, and required considerable renovation and updating. We wanted a project that was manageable and would reflect our personalities and style.
What made you decide to get a wood burner in your home?
When we moved in there was an old and very dated open fireplace in the lounge. We looked at many fireplace show rooms, many different styles of fires and finally settled on the Stovax log burner to complement the style of our lounge and our house.
How did you find the fire? Did you go to a local retailer?
We visited lots of local retailers and compared log burners and decided upon the Studio 1 because of appearance and efficiency.
Why did you choose this model?
We took the advice of the surveyor who came to out to visit us, and also opted for the large black frame to match the décor of our house.
Tell us more about the inspiration for the décor in your living room.
The lounge was a blank canvas. We painted every room in the house off-white. We matched the colours with the tone of our kitchen units which complemented the modern and attractive log burner.
What do you love most about the fire?
The fire is the hub of the room. It is cosy and inviting and we love it, as do our guests. It keeps the whole house beautifully warm, cutting down on our central heating bills in the winter.
What are your plans for the rest of the house?
We have updated the existing house and only have a couple of rooms to finish off. Long term, we plan to extend to increase to 4 bedrooms. This will also include enlarging the kitchen-diner.
