Tell us about your home, your home, your inspiration…
We purchased our 1800s terraced cottage in March 2018. We are based in the Lancashire countryside so it was important for us to restore the cottage and country style within the house, whilst modernising the dated interior. We always knew we wanted our first home to be full of character and have a really cosy feel to it. Our home has a lot of cottage features such as internal stone walls, low ceilings and big chimney breasts.
What do you love most about your home?
The living room has to be my favourite room in the house. It’s so cosy and everyone comments on how welcoming it is. In the winter when the fire is lit it’s so relaxing and warm and in the summer it stays really cool in there so it’s a good place to chill out in all seasons.
I also love how our home is located in a rural village in the countryside. It’s so quiet and there are plenty of places to go walking with our dog, along with a couple of good village pubs to stop off at. Everyone is really friendly and have really welcomed us into the community.
What is your favourite feature?
My favourite feature in our home has to be the stone feature wall in the bathroom and also the stone feature at the back of our fireplace. I love how much character it adds to the property and really retains the cottage and traditional look of the house.
What drew you to our Stockton 5 Multi Fuel Stove?
We always knew that we wanted a wood burner installing in our first home and when we purchased the house we knew it would have to be a traditional looking stove to fit in with the character of the property. My parents recommended the Stovax Stockton range to us after having one installed in their home a few years prior. I love how simple and traditional the Stockton range look and I just knew the Stockton 5 wood burning stove would look perfect against our original stone fireplace. We chose a multi fuel burner so we could have an option between burning wood or coal. We are so made up with our choice and we get so many compliments on the stove. It’s become one of our favourite features of the house.
What is your advise to anyone looking to renovate their own home?
We absolutely love our Stockton 5 wood burning stove and so glad we went with Stovax. Not only does it fit in perfectly with our home, it’s extremely easy to manage and tend to. I would recommend Stovax to anyone who’s wanting to invest in a stove for their home.
Anything else you would like to add…
Enjoy it! The mess and cluttered living is all worth it in the end when you’re finished and have a beautiful home to live in.
I’d also advise anyone to try get stuck in yourself where possible with any jobs . It’s all part of the fun and it’s so rewarding knowing you’ve done certain parts of the renovation yourself.
