Tell us about your home, your inspiration…
In just over a year we have renovated and decorated most of our home one room at a time to put our own stamp on it. I wanted to keep it very stark and neutral with cool white walls, soft grey carpets and furnishings and a touch of silver and monochrome. Like a lot of people on Instagram and Pinterest was my inspiration. I created a lot of mood boards of colours and furnishings I liked and built up from there.
What do you love most about your home? What is your favourite feature?
My favourite room is definitely my lounge. When we first viewed the property I knew as soon as I saw the blank, soulless space that the room needed a feature. It was the first room we changed when we moved in last October. Equipped with several mood boards after a serious amount of Instagram and Pinterest stalking I knew exactly what I wanted. Luckily we had a friend who would be able to help; Chris from CSS Joinery in Doncaster, a quick sketch of fake chimney breast with inset TV and a Radiance 105r Inset electric fire was all it took and a few days later my dream was brought to life!
I wanted a focal point in the room and we built up the rest of the lounge around that, I wanted cool whites and greys with feature wall paper and a big comfy sofa. I love sitting in the lounge in a evening with the fire lit, regardless of the weather we can still switch on the light effect and have that cosy home feel.
What drew you to our Radiance 105r electric fire?
I love how sleek it looks. I knew I wanted a fire that was flush to the wall and matched the seamless lines I had planned for the room. It really worked with the style I wanted to achieve. We live in a modern townhouse so this style fit with the property perfectly.
What is your advice to anyone looking to renovate their own home?
Take your time, don’t rush into buying things to fill your home that you may fall out of love with in a few months. Save for those important purchases and don’t cut corners making do with a cheaper alternative that you may love to hate! Use Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration but don’t let it make you feel like your home isn’t good enough. Do what makes you happy.
