Tell us a bit more about your home project
Our 1930s semi-detached house was a full-on project and was our first home. The whole house needed renovating, from rewiring and a new boiler to more cosmetic updates. But it came with many original features and we could see so much potential when viewing it.
We knew we were already taking on a challenge so we decided to do a small extension, and remove a wall to create an open plan kitchen space. A year after buying the house, we finally moved in. The bathroom was still to be renovated but it was finally liveable. We wanted a scandi, minimal style house and the Stovax View 5 T wood burning stove was exactly what we needed in design and functionality.
What stove have you had installed?
Where did you get the wood burner installed in your home, and why that location?
We put the log burner in our open plan kitchen, we wanted that open living space whilst still feeling cosy. We also knew this room would be the most used and biggest space in our house, so it would definitely come in handy during autumn and winter whilst also being a feature in the space.
What drew you to a Stovax & Gazco product?
We shopped around for quite a few log burners in retail and also online. But Stovax & Gazco was actually recommended by our installer, and also stocked a variety of styles from modern to more classic designs. Stovax just had exactly what we were looking for. We also loved the handleless design on the View 5.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing this renovation?
It would have to be having a full-time job whilst also project managing everything going on with the renovation.
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
I have always grown up with a fireplace and it really gives your house that homely feel and warmth.
Any tips for other people renovating?
- Do your research and really thinking about what you are buying before making the purchase or changes
- Get trust worthy and recommended tradesman, I don’t think we used anyone who hadn’t been recommended previously
- When it comes to interiors go for classic pieces rather than trend led
- Spend a little bit more if you really want something, you’ll regret not getting it!
