Renovating their first home, a Victorian cottage in Surrey, we found out from Finnerz why they chose a Gazco Sheraton 5 Gas stove for their home project.

Tell us a bit more about your home project and your style.
We purchased our first home last year which is a Victorian Cottage in Surrey. It has lots of character and potential which is why we fell in love with it, we have a fireplace in every room which is a great feature but it needed a lot of TLC.
What fire have you had installed?
The stove we had installed was the Sheraton 5 Gas Stove with an Aegean Limestone surround.
Where did you get the fire installed in your home, and why that location?
We had it installed in our living room. When we moved in, all of the fireplaces had been boarded up and out of use for years. We knew straight away that we wanted to open them back up, as we would be spending most of our time there and wanted it to feel warm and inviting. It’s so nice watching a movie or coming in from a country walk to hot chocolates in front of the fire.
Which retailer did you go to for your fire?
We went with Esher Fireplaces who we couldn’t recommend enough, they were really friendly and so helpful! We didn’t really know where to start when looking for a stove and they helped us all the way with their expertise and advice.
What drew you to a Gazco product?
We had a look around the Esher Fireplaces showroom and loved that the Gazco gas stoves looked incredibly realistic. It’s great that they are so convenient and ignite in seconds and you can adjust the flame height. We knew we wanted a log burning stove and we had the gas supply there already and loved the traditional feel of the Sheraton 5.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing your renovation?
We didn’t realise how much we had to do and working full time alongside juggling a renovation is tough. Three months into our renovation COVID hit so that put everything behind schedule. Also living in a constant mess was hard, there was dust everywhere no matter how much we cleaned!
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
It’s a great feature and instantly makes a room feel warm and cosy. We knew straight away that we wanted to add in alcove shelving and make the fireplace the focal point of the living room.
Any tips for other people renovating?
Definitely prioritise what you want to get done first and get lots of quotes! Also try and get recommendations of tradesmen and do your research. We have found some great companies through Instagram as it is like a virtual portfolio.
