Tell us about your home…what inspired you?
Our home style is a little eclectic as I have pieces reflecting the Victorian era of the house, but also contemporary elements too, essential for modern day living.
What do you love most about your home? What is your favourite feature?
A lot of the original features had been removed over the years, so we have put many of them back in such as cast iron fireplaces in the guest bedrooms, traditional doors throughout and decorative tiles, all of which we have documented in our Instagram account @victorianhouse1896 .
What drew you to our Huntingdon stove? Did you always want a woodburner?
We wanted something more user friendly for the living room and the original fireplace that was uncovered is quite large so we wanted a stove that wouldn’t look small in the space. We have a Huntingdon multi fuel burner where we can alternate between wood and coal. The wood is great for short bursts of heat when you may only want to use it for a couple of hours in the evening after work. The coal is good for all day fires on cold winter weekends when it may be in use most of the day. It’s great to have the option of both.
Stovax provide a great range of affordable options.
What is your advice to anyone looking to renovate their own home?
I just take inspiration from Instagram, Pinterest and magazines.
I do have a strong interest in the history of homes and the families that have lived here before us. I’ve spent a lot of time researching the former residents and I’ve framed copies of the first census detailing the family who lived here.
