Tell us a bit more about your home project and your style.
We moved into a new house about a year ago and were keen to renovate the living room. I’ve always wanted to make a proper feature ‘media wall’ with a TV and fire combination.
On top of these renovations, lockdown changed many of the ways I had to work. To adapt I built a studio in my garage, and an electric fire was the perfect feature to complete it.
Where did you get the fire installed in your home, and why that location?
We had the eStudio 135R installed in the living room to make the room relaxing and warm. We also had an eReflex 70W electric fire installed in the garage (now a studio), which was more for aesthetics and for creating a feature when the bifold doors are fully open.
What drew you to a Stovax & Gazco product?
They were simply another level of quality to everything else I researched. The eStudio fire in the living room is the latest technology, and I am now a total convert for electric fires. We couldn’t be happier with it.
What is your favourite feature of the fire, or what have enjoyed the most so far?
I love being able to use these fires even in hotter summer months. They look amazing so I’d have to say my favourite feature is having the effects of fire without the heat.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing your renovation?
The greatest challenge was working out the most suitable fire and TV size for that space as the room is relatively narrow. I couldn’t be happier with the size of the fire though.
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
I felt it was a much needed centre point for our living room. We wanted a relaxing space and therefore a fireplace was a priority. The fireplace that we replaced was good quality but not in keeping with the designs of our room.
What would you say to other people looking to own this particular fire?
The biggest question is wondering how realistic the flames will be, and I can honestly say they are so impressive. I don’t really understand how they do it but I love the look of these electric fires. If you’ve never had one before it is worth the leap of faith.
Any tips for other people renovating?
We drew out our potential living room with someone much better than me at doing so. This was an expense but really helped me as I’m always useless at imagining and trusting what the final renovation will look like. I’d recommend if you are like me, and can budget for this, it can help give you confidence in what you are doing.
