How would you describe your interior design style?
We like to think we’re going for a contemporary style, while keeping some period features of our 30’s house. We love the industrial look too, with the contrasting white on black throughout. Classic architectural features, coving, picture rails and skirting has all been refurbished or reinstated while bringing in freshly painted walls and removing all the layers of wallpaper where possible!
Have you always wanted a Gas Burner in your home?
My wife was brought up with woodburners in the house and since meeting her, I’ve become increasingly interested. We have a Stovax Studio 500 in the front room which is burning most nights in the winter, but we wanted something easier to light and turn down/off for the other side of the house. It hasn’t disappointed.
What room has your fire been installed in?
It has been installed in a sitting room off the kitchen, which has become our reception room of choice during winter. The room heats up in no time and we’re always finding reasons to sit in there and fire up the Riva2 750HL.
What made you choose the Gazco Riva2 750HL?
The ease of lighting and that kind of instant heat drew us to the Gazco product. The builders opening was just large enough once I had removed all the infill and it seemed right to go as big as possible as it would be potentially heating up the kitchen too. It’s a huge eye catcher as you come in, and the way it sits flush in the wall means it doesn’t take up valuable space. The anti-reflective glass gives it that hole-in-the-wall look, especially with the brick lining. We love it!
How long did the project take?
As soon as we found a Gas fitter, it was really simple to install, and the fitter himself assured us it was one of the easiest he’s ever dealt with. The actual opening up of the fireplace was quick and very pleasing, but plastering didn’t go to plan and we ended up boarding the fireplace to achieve that clean look.
