The Artist Residence’s Renovation, Cornwall
Artist Residence, Cornwall
January 13, 2017
Artists Residence is a collection of eccentric, fun and friendly hotels which attract both locals and vacationers alike to eat, drink, socialise and of course cosy up and sleep. There are three hotels in the group, located in Brighton, London and Cornwall and we’ve managed to catch up with the Justin Salisbury, Owner at Artist Residence about their hotel in Penzance.
Summers are what most people tend to remember about Cornwall, as the warmer months are beautiful in this area of the country, but Cornwall is so much more than just that. The food and produce is amazing all year round so a good roaring fire, a brisk walk and incredible food and drink is a big draw in the colder months too – as the Artist Residence guests have discovered!
When thinking about how to incorporate a roaring fire (or fires) into the hotel, the team at Artists Residence went with wood burning as option number one as they wanted heat from a wood burner, ease of use but also something fun to run to get the whole team involved.
In the main guest lounge of the hotel, there was a little more space to play with so the decision was made to fit a freestanding stove into the space. This centerpiece attracts many from around the hotel but also the surrounding areas to sit in front of the roaring fire, not only to watch the flames but to warm up and enjoy the hotel.
Most recently, was the two-month renovation of The Cottage which houses the Stovax Studio 500 and is a luxurious space within the Cornwall branch. The team at Artists Residence wanted to create a cosy space for guests to really be able to put their feet up, and as they wanted to keep as much floor space as possible, they went for an inset wood burner.
And the whole hotel really does look like such a lovely, homely place to be…
