Tell us a bit more about you, your home project, and your style.
I’m 38, wife to George and mummy to two young children. I have a huge passion for interiors and home renovation which I share with my followers on my Instagram account @holly_oak_house.
My style is very much traditional, timeless and I hope elegant! I love a soft neutral palette but do have a few pops of colour creeping in!
I’m also about to embark upon a career break from my day job in the corporate world to focus on interior design and my bespoke cabinetry business.
What fire have you had installed and who was your installer?
We choose the Stovax Vogue Medium which was installed by Miles’ Chimney Services in Worcestershire – great product and a great service!
Where did you get the fire installed in your home, and why that location?
It’s in our Living Room, we installed it where the existing chimney breast was, and actually, it’s the perfect location. The house was built fairly recently with the chimney being external to the property. We wanted to create more character inside the house so we built a faux chimney breast into the room and installed a traditional limestone surround – we are so pleased with the end result.
What drew you to a Stovax & Gazco product?
The brand initially, I knew it had a fantastic reputation, so it was my starting point. I looked at other brands but felt the design of the Vogue best suited our home. I hadn’t seen anything else that compared to it, we were instantly drawn in.
Why did you choose that specific fire?
It has that lovely balance of being a traditional stove but with a contemporary feel. The huge glass window makes it for us, and we love to watch the fire roar in the evening. It’s perfect in our space.
What have you found to be the most useful feature of the fire?
The heat! I really feel the cold so it’s a blessing for me. The large window is also wonderful, it feels like a real open fire.
What was the greatest challenge when undergoing your renovation?
Probably the time it took and the cost. Many of our projects had gone (way) over budget, but I am thankful we took it slow as we now have a home we all adore.
Why is it important to you to have a fireplace?
It creates a warm and cosy homely feel and makes it a special place for us all to be together. Winter Sundays in this room together are magic.
Any tips for other people renovating?
Be patient! We had been here 6-7 years before we finished the living room (that said, is a room ever finished?! I always seem to find bits I’d like to tweak!) We have a young family, so with two maternity leaves and a wedding in the first four years of being here we had little funds (or time) for renovating, but it’s been so worth the wait now it’s done.
