We recently had a Gazco Studio 2 gas fire fitted with a Graphite Steel surround – we are absolutely thrilled with it!
The gas fire looks amazing, especially when it is on and it heats up the room in minutes. It is the showpiece of the room. Everyone who visits comments on how lovely it is. We took some time to make a decision as it is obviously not cheap but can honestly say we have not regretted it.
As we wanted a false chimney breast built to house it we got the fitters to do the complete job and we were pleased with their work. My advice would be to make sure you get the professionals in to do the fitting and to read all the advice that Gazco provide.
Once again excellent fire!

We had our Gazco Studio Fire fitted in April of 2013. It looks great and compliments our living room a treat. The only problem is that we have not been able to ever use it due to the acrid smell it gives off when lit. We tried to use it again yesterday as we are having work done on our boiler. Within ten minutes the whole room was absolutely stinking and would be impossible to sit in. We had to open all the windows and front door to clear the fumes. We had the front of the fire replaced some time ago by a Gazco engineer, the fitter that fitted it has been back and for a few times over the years and all he could suggest was to fit a Carbon Monoxide detector just in case the fumes were dangerous. The odour doesn’t set the alarm off but it is impossible to stay in the room with the fire on. The fire was fitted into a marble fireplace after a whole was cut out of the wall of a cavity wall. Looking at on line reviews it would appear that we are not the only ones that have had problems with this model fire. Needless to say we are not happy.
Smells are difficult to identify and take time to resolve due to the many factors that can cause a smell.
The reason for this is the amount of materials that are available and used in the installation of an appliance. Sealants, Mastics and paint are the most common due to the chemical compounds used in there production which react to high temperatures. To identify the root cause of the smell a full investigation would need to be carried out by us the manufacturer and the installer.
My Gazco stove was fitted in March 2019.. As soon as I turned it on it gave off awful smelling fumes. I’ve tried letting it run with all the windows open for over ten hours while I am out of the room (not possible to stay in the room with those fumes) but it still stinks and I cannot use it. Obviously it cost a lot of money to buy and install. i got a new flue fitted too when it was installed. What can I do? Gazco please can you advise? Can you send an engineer over? I can’t use it and don’t know what to do. Wish I’d never had it fitted.
