Balanced flue is when an appliance is completely sealed from the room into which it is installed (so there are no draughts and heating efficiency) and a twin-wall pipe vents directly to an outside wall. Homes with conventional flue systems can select from models that are suitable for this type of flue installation. Conventional systems are easily recognisable as either a conventional brick or stone chimney, or as a pre-fabricated chimney system. Each gas fire will be specified whether they are suitable for either a balanced flue or conventional flue installation. Once you have identified the flue system suitable for your home, you can start to decide upon which type of gas fire is appropriate for your heating and interior design needs.
