As part of our quality control systems we monitor all issues raised with us and investigate them. As a result of such monitoring systems we have identified that we have been supplied with a batch of control boards which had a faulty component on them. The result of this faulty component is to cause the appliance control system to intermittently send a signal which the receiver of the remote control system could interpret as a command to turn the appliance on.
ACCORDINGLY THERE IS A RISK THAT THE ABOVE APPLIANCE COULD TURN ITSELF ON WITHOUT ANYONE PRESENT OR WITHOUT ANYONE OPERATING IT.
The faulty components supplied were only fitted to the following Gazco fires manufactured between November 2006 and June 2007 inclusive:
Please click on the above models of fire to see pictures of all the frame options available for that model. This should help you identify if you have a model that could be effected by this important safety notice.

We apologise that this situation has arisen, but it is very important that you immediately de-commission your fire so that it cannot turn itself on. In order to do this, you need to remove the batteries from the fire itself (NOT just the batteries from the remote control).
This is a routine operation that you would normally need to do at least every year when the batteries would run out, and is explained in the user instructions supplied with the fire. For your convenience, detailed instruction to show you how you can remove these batteries are available from the links below.
The reason why you should decommission your fire as explained above, is due to risk of the fire operating unintentionally when either no one is present or people in the premises are asleep. This could create the risk of a fire in the premises if flammable material has been left on or very near to the appliance, or if, for example, young children or pets where left unattended with the appliance on.
We are working with our component supplier on a simple solution to the problem that can be fitted to your fire at your home without any building work or disruption to your decoration. We will then be arranging to visit you to carry out this rectification work as soon as possible.
We apologise for any inconvenience the above may cause you, and would assure you that the matter is being treated as a priority. We hope to be able to inform you of the timescale for visiting you to update your fire within the next week or two and would thank you for your understanding.
In the meantime if you have any queries on the above, please do not hesitate to contact our customer services staff on 01392 261900 or on info@gazco.com
