About Hearth Mounted Fires

About Hearth Mounted Fires

Hearth mounted fires are generally defined as those which are installed at floor level and set either within a stone or wood mantel or flush against a tiled, stone brick or other non-combustible surface.

Stovax and Gazco include a range of wood burning, multi-fuel, gas and electric hearth mounted fires to choose from. Many smaller fires have been designed to be installed into the standard fireplace openings typical in many British homes, whilst larger fires may require some building work to construct a special opening.

So firstly, you need to decide whether you want to burn solid fuel such as logs, smokeless fuels and anthracite or have the ‘switch on’ convenience of gas or electricity. If the fire is to be your prime source of heating for a room then you will need around 1kW of heat for each 14 cu.m. of volume.
