Raised-line tiles are a faithful reproduction
of the traditional technique using modern methods
Tube lining is a method of decorating glazed
items developed in the late 19th Century and used extensively
during the Arts and Crafts and art nouveau periods.
It requires a high degree of skill, as the outline of each design
is piped by hand onto each individual piece. Different coloured
translucent glazes are then applied - again by hand - to the
separate areas of the design to create exquisite works of art.
